Mannum resident Trevor Miller attended Mid Murray Council’s August 8 meeting to question elected members about Mannum RSL’s plans to build on Mary Ann Reserve.
The RSL’s plans were originally included in the masterplan to redevelop the reserve but were later excluded for further consultation.
Mr Miller said he was under the impression an application had been submitted and asked if a vote had been carried out.
Trevor and his wife Hilary are among a group of locals actively opposing the RSL’s dreams of building a new facility on Mary Ann Reserve under the premise that the reserve should remain an open space.
Chief Executive Officer Russell Peate said council had offered a letter of support for the RSL, but did not intend to support the facility financially.
Mr Peate said consultation around the RSL’s proposed facility would continue throughout August as plans are finalised for Mary Ann Reserve.
