Two classes from Jervois Primary School competed in the Kluske Cup competition against Tailem Bend and Mypolonga Primary School recently. Five games were played against the different teams and, despite cooler weather, the children showed great enthusiasm.
The children had been involved in a footy clinic over a series of weeks where they were taught the basic skills and rules of football. For some it was a chance to get a bit more football into their lives and for others it was the first time they had handballed or kicked a football.
Some eager students from the Year 6/7 class were also involved, where they learnt how to umpire or coach one of the JPS football teams. Students involved were attentive, positive, organized and showed great sportsmanship.
It was a great event allowing all children to participate in a safe and fun environment. We look forward to this event next year where Jervois Primary School the Kluske Cup initial host will be the 2018 host for the second time.
