Firefighters called to contain fire near the Princes Highway at Tailem Bend

Emergency services have rushed to the Princes Highway at Tailem Bend to contain a grass fire that is fast approaching forest land.

Crews from the Country Fire Service (CFS) and Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) were called to the Highway near Westbrook Road just before 2pm today, October 10.

The CFS has alerted drivers that smoke is currently impacting the Princes Highway and emergency vehicles are operating in the area.

The CFS has advised that the bushfire threat has been reduced, but drivers should be aware that the smoke will reduce visibility and trees and branches may fall over the coming days.

Residents have been urged to check their properties for any fires and embers, particularly in roof spaces, under decks, raised floors and in gutters.

Incidents can be reported to the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1300 362 361.
