Don’t let the “unfounded, anecdotal commentary”, as Councillor Tyson Matthews put it, fool you.
There are more spaces in the refurbished Murray Bridge Swimming Centre car park than there were previously – 15 to 19 more, by council staff estimates.
Cr Matthews asked for clarity on the question at a council meeting on Monday night.
Outgoing infrastructure and environment general manager Simon Bradley said between 28 and 32 vehicles would have fit in the car park before the works, and 47 afterwards.
Sealing the car park had also improved drainage and safety, he said.
Meanwhile, the swimming centre’s new splash park is on track for completion before the pool’s November 4 summer opening date.
Water was run through the new slides for the first time a fortnight ago.
