SA election 2018: Labor's O'Brien tours Hammond

Labor candidate for Hammond Mat O’Brien hit the road over the weekend, touring the electorate in an attempt to build his profile ahead of the March 2018 state election.

He visited Mannum, Palmer, Monarto, Callington, Cambrai, Kanmantoo, Rockleigh, Harrogate and Milendella during a two-day dash.

He was accompanied by state Attorney-General Michael Atkinson, Labor’s “duty member” for Hammond and Schubert – the one whose responsibility it is to represent Labor voters in those electorates.

Mr Atkinson will retire at the upcoming election.

After 11 years, voters in Hammond are likely familiar with the Liberal MP Mr O’Brien hopes to unseat, Adrian Pederick, who frequently attends events and meets constituents around the region.

Nick Xenophon’s SA Best party has also announced a candidate for Hammond: Cowirra resident Kelly Gladigau.

Candidates have until February 23 to nominate for the election, which will be held on March 17.
