Domestic violence has been the topic of awareness-raising events and workshops in the Murraylands in recent years, but never has one looked specifically at its impact on mothers and children.
A "spotlight session" will do just that at Murray Bridge RSL between 7 and 9pm on Wednesday night, headlined by two guest speakers from the University of South Australia.
Professor Leah Bromfield led the research program behind the federal Royal Commission into Insitutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, and has advised state, federal and international governments on child protection.
Dr Fiona Buchanan completed her PhD on the effects of domestic violence on women and their babies, and has been a social worker in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Murray Bridge child protection office manager Louisa Rolls and SA Police Superintendent James Blandford will also be special guests, and Soroptimist International Murray Bridge's Annette Korzeba will emcee.
Entry is free and light refreshments will be provided.
