50sixone has been quick to capture the hearts and minds of sweet-tooths across Adelaide, since the opening of their Hyde Park store last July.
The cafe/dessert bar’s rapid rise to fame was largely due to their Instagram, with images of their incredibly lavish and intricate milkshakes taking the local scene by storm.
These Insta-Famous Shakes are incredibly elaborate – and they’re huge. It is definitely recommended to bring a friend along to share one with. Perhaps the most difficult part of the milkshake process is choosing the right one, with all of them sounding, looking and most importantly tasting fantastic.
It was the rapid success of the Hyde Park store that prompted owners to open a second store in Mount Barker, which has similarly been a big hit with young and old alike.
Marketing manager Natalie Renna said the Mount Barker store was about much more than the shakes however.
50sixone also have an incredible food menu to choose from, featuring some truly tasty breakfast options served all day long, as well as a surprising dinner menu.

The meals continue with the cafe’s tradition of inventive naming, featuring star items such as the Beet’s Workin’ burger, the You Got Grilled! sandwich or the Oh So French French toast.
These have been named in the same vein as their Insta-Famous Shakes, which include Me want Cookies!, Love is in the Aero or teenage favourite OMG!! SNAP.. CHAT.. THAT!.
While it is true that the food and drinks are the stars of 50sixone, Ms Renna said that it was also the fact that 50sixone is such a family focused destination that kept people coming back.
That point would be hard to argue, with an awesome selection of food and drink for the kids (including the desserts of course), while the adults can even indulge in some dessert cocktails (try the 50sixone Espresso Martini, made with rum, it’s a must.)
Oh, and the coffee is also great.
With the warmer weather now here, the outdoor seating at the scenic Mount Barker store truly is delightful, while the inevitably long queues that accompanied the cafe’s first few weeks of businesses are much more manageable.
According to Ms Renna, the 50sixone team have been so thrilled with Mount Barker’s response that they are looking to embed themselves deeper in the community, and are searching specifically for local sporting clubs to sponsor.
50sixone has quickly become a fan favourite of many in Adelaide, and it is easy to see why.
