Bitumising works on The Bend Motorsport Park’s track are nearly complete.
After laying the first asphalt on October 20, the track is well on the way to completion, which could be as soon as next week according to site construction manager Sam Rasheed.
“It’s all tracking along really well,” he said. “We’ve started laying down the second, more refined layer of track.”
Mr Rasheed said once the second layer had been put down the track will sit for 12 weeks to settle, with only certain maintenance machinery allowed to drive on it.
“It’s been exciting from day one, but this is really starting to get to the next level,” he said.
State Regional Development Minister Geoff Brock visited the track site during a tour of the Murraylands, and expressed his excitement at the project’s next stages.
“When I was here probably two-and-a-half years ago at a site inspection with Sam Shahin, there was nothing here and to actually come back here today and see the track is fantastic,” Mr Brock said.
