German man charged after death of Encounter Bay man

A 66-year-old German man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, following a crash near Strathalbyn on Monday, January 8, that claimed the life of an Encounter Bay man.

The man was involved in the two-car collision on Alexandrina Road at Sandergrove just after 2pm, in which a 62-year-old man from Encounter Bay died at the scene.

A 61-year-old woman, also from Encounter Bay, was seriously injured in the collision and remains in hospital at this time.

Police from the Major Crash Investigation Branch arrested the German man and charged him causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and an aggravated count of careless driving.

He was granted bail and is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on March 2.
