Murray Districts win under 12 SACA Country Cup


The only undefeated side across the tournament Murray Districts won all four of its games to collect the Under 12 SACA country cup crown.

Defeating Mid North in round one in a close contest, Yorke Peninsula on day two at Stockwell Oval, the Barossa and Light in a third round game at Angaston and finally Fleurieu North also in the final in Angaston, Murray District-Barrier were the dominant team.

The Barossa and Light boys officially finished second with three victories and one loss while Fleurieu North were third overall, with South East collecting fourth place.

In an exciting start to the tournament, Fleurieu and South East had a dramatic tie in round one, with both teams making 115.

Charlie Morbey was the leading run scorer and produce the only 50 of the tournament while Tom Wheaton from the South East to have an impressive average of 38.5

Harry Davies from the Barossa and Light was only just this once and averaged 59. From a bowling perspective Luke Zdanowicz led the way with 11 wickets including the best figures of 5/4, collecting his victims unbelievable average of a wicket every 1 .73 runs.

Luke Goss from the Mid North is also impressive with seven wickets while the quartets of Noah Ramsey from the Eyre Peninsula, the Murray Districts pair Cooper Wisneske and Daniel Zdanowicz, along with Yorke Peninsula’s Angus Betson and each took six wickets.

The SACA under 12 competition was played under new Cricket Australia endorsed playing conditions, with 18 metre pitches, with three at Barossa and Light grounds, Stockwell, Eudunda and Angaston produced the decks for this competition.
