The travelling exhibition from the Australian War Memorial, Remember Me: the lost diggers of Vignacourt, will open at the Murray Bridge Regional Gallery on March 2, with opening drinks at 6pm.

Australian War Memorial curator Joanne Smedley will be present at the opening as speaker and will be available to discuss with attendees historical advice on military photographs from private collections.

The exhibition tells the story of a photographer, who captured troops during the First World War moving up and back from the battlefields on the Somme, who established a business taking portrait photos.

Throughout the exhibition a selection of the photographs as handmade traditional darkroom prints will be showcased and draws on the Memorial's own collections to tell the story of these men in their own voices.

The exhibition is open until April 29.
