The preschool children from the Murray Bridge Community Children's Centre will be among almost 500 children across the electorate of Barker to engage in the Turnbull Government's $15.7 million Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) program, which will encourage preschoolers to learn a secondary language.
The program, which kicked off this month, will see around 20 preschool children from Murray Bridge Community Children's Centre get together and learn Spanish.
The learning will be adapted through the use of a play-based program, where the children digitally interact with a series of applications through the use of tablet devices.
Member for Barker Tony Pasin visted the centre first-hand to speak to the educators and students, where he lauded the program stating that it will have a massive impact on "childrens engagement and personal development"
Being one the first of its kind in Australia, Mr Pasin hopes it will be the start of a "life-long interest" in language learning, whilst at the same time improving the children's overall English and problem solving skills.
