A signage project undertaken by the District Council of Karoonda East Murray is expected to be completed by the end of the month, depending on the availability of internal resources.

A council report indicated work was being undertaken by council to install the new rural road signs throughout the district in between other duties.

The report noted that feedback had been positive, particularly to comments which responded to a Facebook post which showed the signs in place.

However, it was acknowledged that within two weeks of the signs being installed “the new road on Lee Road was used for target practice with a rifle.”

The post which was subsequently shared on Facebook reportedly “stirred quiet a response in the community.”

Signs will be reordered and replaced once replacement stock has been received. Council said positive feedback had also been received in response to the six new community library signs which were placed in Karoonda and Mindarie.
