The Inner Wheel Club of Mobilong has a new – though recycled – president.
On Thursday night Joyce Medlow handed over to Kay Haig.
Kay was president in 2002-2003, spent several years on the state executive and is once again heading the local club.
Over forty people attended the ‘Changeover Dinner’ at the Swanport Hotel with local members, husbands and visitors from clubs in Adelaide.
The newly appointed president, Kay, introduced her committee for the coming year, laid out her goals and announced that 10 members were eligible to receive the newly introduced ‘Service Medal’ for greater than 25 years membership of Inner Wheel.
Six charter members were still active with 33 years’ service, but the longest serving member was Fay Oliver who was a charter member at Prospect in 1973 before moving to Tailem Bend and transferring to Mobilong in 2004.
President Kay then inducted a new member into the club, her friend Sue Atkins.
Guest Speaker, Terry Tolhurst, from El Shaddai Christian Camps at Wellington spoke on how the camp site had developed over the fifty years of providing for many different groups including: schools, disability and sporting groups, retreats, ladies, men’s, family and craft camps.
Past president Maureen Meers presented him with a cheque which will go toward resurfacing the floor of their recreation center.
