Striving to become better year after year

Murray Bridge A & H Society Horses in Action strive ourselves on becoming better year after year.

We have a very small committee but work tirelessly throughout the year to provided two outstanding shows!

The 2nd Sunday in February we hold our annual All Breeds Show, consisting of nine rings / 25+ horse breeds.

2018 we offered trophy rugs for our supreme winners of each breed – these were sponsored by local companies and were a huge success that will continue to be a part of each year.

After February the committee works together for the Murray Bridge A & H Society Agricultural Show, two days of horses in action fun and competition!

Saturday we have resurrected our show jumping section and this year plan to make it a prominent feature not only to our show but also to the entire show jumping calendar.

There is a big decline with Agriculture shows holding show jumping, with only a very few left including it on their programme.

We strive ourselves to accommodate for all ranges of competitors – from encourage showjumping for the up and coming riders, or for education of the younger horse, then there is the Equestrian Australia Official Showjumping with more advanced jumping catering for Junior, Senior, and Amateur riders ranging from 90cm up to a 130cm.

We had some success last year, with competitors travelling from all over the state including Country Victoria, with the assurance of coming again this year as they were impressed with the way the show was organised, especially with the amount of prize money we had on every event, which we were able to do with the help of some very good Sponsors, both locally and from around SA.

Saturday also consist of the SA Carriage Driving Championships – were some of the best and most outstanding Harness Drivers and Horses compete to be awarded with the championship for the state. We are the only agricultural society to hold this event. Due to the passing of our standing President in March 2018, Mr Barry Bracegirdle, the H.I.A committee have dedicated the Supreme Harness Exhibit to be a memorial class each year now in honour of Barry’s many years of hard work and contribution to our section of the show!

Sunday is our biggest day of the horses in action section – our hacking day! Horses from all over the state and into Victoria come to our town to compete. We hold 2 royal qualifying show hack rings, 2 royal qualifying show hunter rings, an open breed ring, encourage hacking and a topsy hacking program for children under the age of 12 years. We can have anything upto 200 horses competing across 7 rings. Prizes are also awarded for all champion and supreme winners!

Murray Bridge A & H Society Horses in Action strive ourselves on giving the competitors the maximum amount of events at an affordable cost! We are very lucky enough to have some of the most generous sponsors onboard!

2018 will be our Centenary year, along with the A & H Society we as the Horses in Action are looking forward to celebrating 100th show with the competitors by having more events, exciting prizes and more outstanding sponsors! Celebrations have been put in place to celebrate 100th show this year, with medallions for all competitors to commemorate 100 shows! More outstanding awards and prizes will be on offer!
