Drakes Foodland will soon find a new home in Murray Bridge Green following the shopping mall’s departure of Woolworths in May.

Drakes Foodland general manager Bob Soang said the company was excited to expand their operations into Murray Bridge.

“We are trying for an opening date before Christmas, but it may get pushed back to early next year,” Mr Soang said.

“Drakes Supermarkets has always been keen to open a store in Murray Bridge but had been waiting for the right opportunity. We feel this site is the main hub of shopping in Murray Bridge and is therefore the ideal location.”

Mr Soang said due to the size of the store it is expected that up to 200 staff will be required to run the site and will open up opportunity for the Murrayland’s jobseekers.

Mr Soang said a unique shopping experience will be on offer with renovations to take place with a complete new fit out of both store and the centre.  “This store will be a completely new concept which we hope the Murray Bridge community will find exciting,” he said.  “Further announcements will be made in due course.”
