Meningie park named in honour of boy who loved the region

A lakeside park, complete with shelter, barbecue area and deck, was officially opened in memory of Hunter Alfred Stratton in Meningie on Friday.

Hunter’s father Jarrod Stratton spoke of his son, who passed away three years ago, and how he fought for his life everyday with bravery and courage and continued to inspire his family.

“Hunter was a fourth generation member of our family to enjoy the Coorong and Meningie area,” Mr Stratton said.

Mr Stratton commended the community of Meningie for their continued support for the park. “It is a fantastic scene and setting. Thank you for keeping it a beautiful place,” Mr Stratton said.

The Stratton’s announced they had recently started a foundation in honour of Hunter, the Hunter Alfred Stratton (HAS) foundation, which helps support paediatric palliative care for families in South Australia.
