For three weeks in January, Sturt Reserve, Murray Bridge will host a celebration of all things summery: the Murray River Splash Festival.
The Murray Bridge council is planning a series of family-friendly activities and events to coincide with the school holiday period.
Council organisational development manager Martin Smallridge said they would include an inflatable “slip’n’dip” playground in the river, rock climbing, a pop-up cinema and live music every week.
“There’ll be various things happening every day, some for the day, some for the week,” he said.
“The idea is to start bringing Sturt Reserve alive through the school holidays.
“One of the pieces of feedback we’ve always had is that kids need something to do.”
Local small business owners are being urged to find out more about the festival, its target audience, the calendar of events and how they can get involved by attending a free information session at the Murray Bridge Hotel at 5.30-6.30pm this Thursday.
The city's business alliance will also explain its plans to draw visitors to Bridge Street, the Marketplace and Green shopping centres and surrounding areas.
