Community members who wish to provide written submissions in response to the draft Water Allocation Plan for the River Murray Prescribed Watercourse have until September 14 at 5 pm to do so.
South Australian Murray-Darling Basin Natural Resources Management (SAMDB NRM) board presiding member Sharon Starick said it was not too late for people to provide their feedback.
“The changes to the Water Allocation Plan may have an impact on the way people take and use water from the River Murray, so it’s important that water users give us their ideas or opinions on the changes in the draft Plan,” Mrs Starick said.
“We’ve heard from a number of community members already but there is still time for submissions to be made, letting the SAMDB NRM Board know which changes in the draft plan the community support as well as those they would like to see altered.”
When the draft plan was developed the SAMDB NRM board worked closely with the River Murray Advisory Committee,
The draft plan will make further updates to the 2017 River Murray Allocation Plan to make sure polices in the plan were compliant with the Basin Plan. Changes will also be made to progress some other existing policies.
Copied of the draft plan and supplementary material are available for viewing at 110a Mannum Road, Murray Bridge or the board’s website: www.naturalresources.sa.gov.au/samurraydarlinbasin.
