Locals and visitors wandered Meningie’s caravan park inspecting the unique restored vans, many towed by vintage cars. Some of the caravan owners dressed and displayed their annex’s in theme. The park was booked out with many of the vans arriving during the week and staying for the weekend from all over SA and Victoria. More specialised vintage catering vans supplied food, coffee and a bar while the crowd was entertained by a live band and the local car club, Coorong Mechanical Restoration Club, came on board this year providing a display of vintage vehicles as well. The event was created seven years ago by the proprietors of the park, Troy Fynnaart and Jacquie Grant starting with just five vans in the first year. The event is held for the caravaners over several days with an open day held on the Saturday allowing people to come and look at the vans. Troy said that the event will be held from 1 to 4 November in 2019 with many vans already booked in. The open day for visitors will be Saturday 2 November.
