Recent power outages in Mannum have been caused by corellas, according to SA Power Networks

Recent power outages effecting residents, businesses and visitors to Mannum in the last month, have been blamed on corellas, according to a statement made by SA Power Networks on their Facebook page.

The Facebook post stated that since December corellas have been the cause of three power outages, which took place on December 20 and 29 and January 7.

A vehicle, which caused damage to the SA Power network was the cause of another on December 2, 2018. 

The post suggested that residents may have experienced power flickers at dawn or dusk, the cause of which was put down to bird activity. 

In their post SA Power Networks said they undertook maintenance on on Tuesday (January 8) to reduce bird impact on two transformers near the marina. 

Further network changes were carried out to minimise the risk of power outages affecting the Mannum township.
