The Stolen Generation will be a theme central to a new exhibition opening at Murray Bridge Regional Gallery this weekend.
At 2pm on Sunday, artist Kunyi June Anne McInerney and curator Maggie Fletcher will explore the experiences of cultural loss, separation from family and fun in times of hardship represented in the works in My Paintings Speak for Me at the gallery.
The artist spent time in the Oodnadatta Children's Home during the 1950s.
“They took away my family, my culture and who I could have been,” she said.
“These are not fairy tales.
“They are true and I want people to understand.”
Refreshments will also be on offer at the opening of the Country Arts SA touring exhibition.
