A towering Poseidon sculpture crafted by stonemason Ken Herron and Mypolonga-based boilermaker Jason Wachtel has received a people’s choice award at the Brighton Jetty Sculptures Festival.

Poseidon was placed on the Brighton Esplanade as part of this year’s festival to portray an important environmental message about protecting the Great Australian Bight.

Mr Herron said he and Mr Wachtel were tremendously proud.

“We took Poseidon for a victory lap through the city on Monday on our way home," he said.

"Thank you so much for the support to our community.”
