Karoonda recognises year's top citizens

Citizen of the year was Mr Donald Anderson, of Karoonda, who developed the nature trail and bush walk in the eastern parklands and set up the railway museum in Pioneer Park, the old Yurgo railway siding and the pump house from Mindarie RS.

Junior citizen of the year Geoffry Redden, 18, is already a distinguished footballer, having won a Murray Lands A grade under-21 award.

Fair invites for big eaters

People with large appetites will find one section of Murray Bridge's Jubilee Trade Fair particularly palatable.

Three eating contests will be held during the fair, organised by Murray Bridge City Lions Club: crumpet munching, lamb devouring and a pasta glut.

Bagshaw machine wins award

Agricultural machinery manufacturer Horwood Bagshaw Ltd has won its second Industrial Design Council good design award for its 2140 self-propelled combine harvester.

Wynarka opener bats through innings

Promising 18-year-old Wynarka batsman David Hoare was the star in Saturday's round of matches in Murraylands cricket when he remained unconquered on 113.

Despite his efforts, Wynarka were defeated, unable to restrict Kulkawarra under their 195.
