State helps with cost of living expenses

A payment of $103.70 has now been made available by the South Australian government in an attempt to help low income households with expenses such as water and energy costs.

Minister for Human Services, Michelle Lensink said the payments would support people such as pensioners, retirees and low income households who were eligible.

"Households can choose how they would like to use the payments and typically, the concession payment assists with expenses like electricity, gas or water bills and other day-to-day costs of living," she said.

Ms Lensink said all payments, which totals more than $3.5 million, would be made by the end of February.

Applications for the cost of living concession payments can be made between July 1 and October 31 each year.
