Apology from Mid Murray Councillor Peter Smith

There are some who believe I have broken the local government code of conduct regulations.

If you feel this way, I do sincerely apologise.

As I am now being harassed, I apologise especially to my fellow elected members of Mid Murray Council and all of the staff at my council.

I have been appointed to represent my community so if there are any members of my community that feel aggrieved, please also accept my apologies – it was never my intention.

Whilst I also realise I do not speak for my council, I will always be proud to represent them.

Thank you.

Councillor Peter R Smith, Mannum

Code Red declared to help vulnerable South Australians during extreme heat

In response to predicted very high temperatures over the coming week, the state government has put in place a state-wide Code Red response from yesterday until Saturday, March 2.

This means that homelessness agencies across South Australia will boost their services during the hot weather, including increasing outreach services, which will help people sleeping rough to keep cool and remain hydrated.

I urge all South Australians this week to check on the community, particularly the vulnerable, including the elderly, people with disability or mental illness or who might be housebound.

In regional areas, homelessness agencies will provide services to people who need help during the extreme heat.
