Thirty-two CCTV cameras are now being used to monitor public safety at 14 locations around Murray Bridge.

The expanded network of cameras was set up in late December, and has already led to at least one arrest.

The city's council and SA Police had previously monitored activity at only six sites.

Taxpayers footed the bill for the extra piece of mind via a $160,700 federal government grant.

Member for Barker Tony Pasin said the government was dedicated to keeping Australians safe, and to addressing crime and antisocial behaviour.

Eradicating such behaviour, and helping people feel safer, resulted in more viable and vibrant communities, Mr Pasin said.

"I promised to deliver this funding to make Murray Bridge safer, and I'm really pleased to see the project now complete and already delivering outcomes," he said.

Mayor Brenton Lewis described the CCTV network as a "significant resource" that would aid public safety.
