Northern Heights aged pensioner Bob Little believes that he might have the largest private collection of life-sized exotic animals – of a sort – in the Murraylands. After the death of his wife Jean, Bob became depressed and lonely, living on his own. Jean was an avid gardener, having spent most of her time on the raised flower beds nestled on a hill surrounded by pines. After a quick chat to his son Rob, Bob decided to utilise them for a purpose, to show something – but what? Rob said he would cover the base with white gravel ... what now? On a visit to Serenity Nursery, many what one could only call unbelievable animals were among the many articles on display before his eyes. The first article to take his fancy was a life-sized pair of male lions. After negotiations with the head man Tim, the lions became Bob's. Their removal had to be by truck and forklift, so arrangements were made at a nominal fee. All other animals were purchased and delivered by Rodney and his staff, and the transformation began. Bob is now the proud owner of three male lions and a lioness, a life-sized lizard, full-size camel, baby elephant, gorilla, giraffe, water buffalo, two Bengal tigers, three chimpanzees, a large rhino and a large kangaroo with a joey. Without the wonderfull staff at Serenity Nursery this collection would never have eventuated, nor the other statues too numerous to mention across large shady areas filled with ceramic bird statues made by Jean, which also make wonderful decorations. Bob has dedicated the former garden area to his loving wife, Jean, and erected a memorial to the timeless hours spent on this section by her. More animals will be pending when they arise at the nursery. In the meantime, motorists will continue to pull up and take photos.
