Murray Bridge's only dedicated electrical appliance retailer will close in about two months after Radio Rentals announced on Tuesday it would cease operating.

The decision will leave six local staff, and those at 11 other stores, without jobs.

The chain will clear all of its stock by mid-June.

Managing director Nick Palmer said the success of the South Australian family-owned business, which started in Rundle Street in 1958, had been built on its mission to make appliances affordable and accessible, and on generations of staff, customers and business partners.

"We look back with pride on our contribution: the jobs we created, the economic growth that we drove and the choice and services we provided to generations of South Australians," he said.

Customers who have rented appliances through the store will not be affected, as their contacts with Inrent will continue.

All Radio Rentals gift cards will also be honoured or refunded.
