A candle-lighting ceremony will be held on Murray Bridge's riverfront at 5pm next Wednesday to remember women, children and men who have died as a result of domestic violence.

Attendees are invited to bring a flower to cast into the water to honour the lives of the more than 100 Australians killed at the hands of a partner, parent or family member during the past year.

The vigil, organised by the Murray Bridge Regional Collaboration on Violence Against Women and Children, will be held between the bunyip and Riverscape Food and Wine and will run for half an hour.

May 1 has been noted as the National Day to Remember Those Who Have Died Because of Domestic and Family Violence since 2005.
