As the South Australian road toll continues to grow at an alarming rate, the State Government has called for a forum to take place this week to try and stem the growing rate of deaths.

A number of road safety experts and representatives from organisations such as SA Police, Department of Transport, Metropolitan Fire Service, Country Fire Service and Members of Parliament have been invited to take part.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Corey Wingard, said the number of deaths on SA roads this year was unacceptable.

"Pulling everyone together in the same room, at the same time, and hearing the ideas and initiatives can help broaden overall strategies to lower the road toll," Mr Wingard said.

He said work had already begun on several campaigns targeting drug driving and motorcycle injuries and deaths.
