Paech targets possible

On Saturday May 11th, the Murray Bridge Rifle Club contested the 28th stage of the Club Championship over 800m at Monarto.

A gentle breeze blew down the range but with a touch left which made high scores tricky to come by.

Top off-rifle and winner of A Grade and the Handicap for the afternoon was Robert Paech with 98.10. Paech scored the only possible for the day - 50.5 when he shot first down for the afternoon.

John Elson was the winner in B Grade with 78.0.

Frank Marshall was the winner in F Class Standard with 113.5, including 58.5 in his second round.

Steve Wuttke was the winner in F/TR with 108.1.

Adrian Conlon did not quite achieve the great heights of last week, but he produced an excellent score to win F Class Open with 117.12, including the best individual round of 59.5. Conlon also won the F Class Handicap for the afternoon.

The sighters awards were won by Andrew Heard in full-bore with 18.1 on a count out from Gordon Harrison, Marshall in F Class Standard with 19.1, Wuttke in F/ TR with 17.0 and Conlon in F Class Open with 19.0.

The Magpie (3) awards were won by Heard in full-bore with two and Wayne Halliday in F Class with one.

CONLON HAS PERFECT SHOOT

On Saturday May 4th, Adrian Conlon achieved what many others aim to do when the Murray Bridge Rifle Club contested the 27th Stage of the Club Championship over 500 metres at Monarto.

Conlon fired the most outstanding round shooting a perfect 60.10. He followed this up with 59.5 in his second round to win F Class Open and the F Class Handicap award for the afternoon.

It was a very cool day with a strong wind, but shooters handled the conditions well.

Top off-rifle and winner in A Grade was Gordon Harrison with a superb 98.11, including a 50.6 in his first round.

The only other possible was by David McDonald with 50.3 in his second round. This score helped McDonald win the Handicap award for the afternoon.

Ian Taylor was the winner in B Grade with a fine 94.2.

Winner in F Class Standard was David Hindmarsh with a terrific 115.4.

Nicole Edwards was the winner in F/TR with 112.4.

Other shooters scored highly, with Ian Elston (60.6) and Terry Brown (60.3) scoring possibles but none could get close enough to Conlon.

The sighters' awards were won by Harrison in full-bore with 19.2, Frank Marshall in F Class Standard also with 21.1, Edwards in F/TR with 23.2 and Elston in F Class Open with 22.0.

No one scored any magpies.
