Candidate thankful for support she got

On behalf of the Animal Justice Party, thank you to all those kind souls who supported me in Barker on Saturday.

Our viewpoint is not always welcome in a rural electorate but we managed to get around 2500 first preference votes, which is a great result for our first contest.

My sincere gratitude.

Volunteer Week

Volunteers are the life-blood of our regions.

Without their invaluable help, emergency services, sporting clubs and community organisations could not undertake the important work they do every day.

This week is National Volunteer Week and on behalf of the Liberal government, I extend my thanks to the hundreds of thousands of volunteers who give up their time and contribute to organisations right across South Australia.

To the mums and dads who help at the local footy club sausage sizzle, to the people of all ages who help fight bushfires, clear roads and clean up after bad weather and to those who support our most vulnerable we say thank you.

Last year the Liberal government was proud to deliver our election commitment which now offers free volunteer screening checks to all South Australians.

We recognise the incredible dedication and hard work of volunteers and the selfless work they do helping the community and I am thrilled we removed barriers for people wishing to volunteer.

Our free volunteer screening fees have already encouraged more South Australians to volunteer.

Volunteers provide much needed care and support to our community and are a vital part of the fabric of our regions.

Well done.

Your work is priceless.

Michelle Lensink, state Minister for Human Services

Health helpers celebrated

It is delightful to see members of the community getting involved with their local health services and providing extra support to those who need it most.

Volunteers not only offer a helping hand to patients but also their loved ones and staff by assisting with a range of services, from running the local kiosk to driving people to medical appointments and providing companionship to aged care residents.

I appreciate the time and effort that each and every volunteer gives and we are lucky to have so many generous people in our towns and communities.

Anyone can become a volunteer within the health system and I would invite more people to consider volunteering at our wonderful health services.
