I was recently in Queen Elizabeth Hospital and shared a ward with a Robert "Bob" Patterson, of Murray Bridge.

We didn't stop laughing and I really enjoyed his company.

Unfortunately we were caught up with doctors and making appointments and we didn't get the opportunity to exchange phone numbers, but I would dearly love to catch up with you again, Bob.

Please ring Peri at The Standard, who can pass on my phone number.

I'm hoping this is successful.

Thank you.

Thomas Foods rebuild will create thousands of jobs

The fire of January last year was devastating for Murray Bridge and surrounds, however this resilient community has survived and will now go from strength to strength.

Intense and sustained lobbying, resulting in commitments for road infrastructure and utilities access from both the Marshall and Morrison governments, has helped enable this announcement.

I see this as a vote of confidence for regional South Australia and the conditions the Marshall Liberal government are creating to enable greater investment.

This will be a massive boost to the local community, and the flow-on effects for the economy will be seen for decades to come.

Livestock SA welcomes TFI announcement

Last Thursday's announcement is great news for livestock producers across South Australia.

To have TFI reaffirm that it remains committed to SA is an enormous advantage for SA livestock producers.

Having TFI invest in a new plant will provide surety, particularly as many producers look to rebuild numbers after drought and difficult times.

It's also in a location which is very well positioned to service the whole of the state.

Having a state-of-the-art processing facility will provide benefits to the entire supply chain and help industry to capitalise on new data recording and technology platforms, both on-farm and through the value chain, for enhanced decision making and management.

It will also ensure production efficiencies and benefits to animal welfare.

Federal MP welcomes TFI rebuild

Thomas Foods International's announcement last Thursday is a great success story for the company and the Murraylands.

All levels of government have worked together over the past 18 months to assist the company in getting to this point.

This is a great result for the local economy and the fabric of the community.
