The Purnong ferry will be closed for four hours on Wednesday, June 19, the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure has warned.

The River Murray crossing will be out of action between 10am and 2pm while crews replace the cables which guide the ferry, weather permitting.

The nearest available crossings will be via the ferries at Walker Flat and Mannum.

The department thanked ferry users for their patience.
