On Friday night the Combined Churches Indoor Bowls Association held their annual Open Singles Tournament.

Each player played four games of eight ends each on the night.

Eighteen competitors challenged for the title with the result coming down to the final games where three players won all four games, so the placings were decided by points.

Winner of the night was Wayne Day who had convincing wins over all his opponents.

Day defeated Yvonne Mach in the first game 11 - 7 starting the night with four shots. In the second game he defeated Heather Day 12 - 3 with multiple scores.

In the third game he defeated Ian Pumpa 15 - 4 again scoring multiple shots on many of the ends. He finished off the night with an 18 - 2 victory over David Clark which saw him score four shots on three ends.

Second place went to Colin Rawlins. Rawlins defeated Terry Franklin 7 - 5 in the first game and then in another close game defeated Anna Day 8 - 7. In the third game he had an easier win against Aiden Rawlins 11 - 1.

In the last game of the night he came up against Barry Hoffman who at that stage also had three wins. After being behind early in the game, Rawlins strung together consecutive ends to win 10 - 6.

Third place went to Ben Traeger who although he won his four games had close contests with each of his opponents. Traeger defeated Robert Day in the first game 11 - 4.

In the second game he defeated Neville Rawlins 5 - 4 where his opening score was two shots, but every other scoring end was a single for both players.

In the third game he defeated Yvonne Mach 7-5 before finishing off with the same score line against Ian Pumpa. Other players to compete were Peter Jaensch, Robyn Bensch, Jordyn Day, Leo Mach and Peter Musgrove.

Next week the premiership season continues with Mypolonga Fellowship at home to Salem Lutheran and Monarto Lutheran hosting Murray Bridge Uniting.
