Extras services will be available to the homeless in regional South Australia tonight and tomorrow as gale force winds, squally showers and thunderstorms have been predicted.
The Code Blue applies to the Fleurieu, Murray Bridge, Berri, Port Pirie, Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Mount Gambier and Kangaroo Island.
Minister for Human Services Michelle Lensink said regional homelessness services would activate local Code Blue plans and work with Housing SA and Homelessness Gateway Service to ensure shelter and outreach services were available.
"Due to the predicted heavy rain, damaging winds and thunderstorms across Adelaide and our Southern regions from today, a Code Blue has been called by the SA Housing Authority in conjunction with the Homelessness Gateway Service in these areas to assist those who need it," Ms Lensink said.
Information about regional arrangements and emergency accommodation is available through the South Australia's Homelessness Gateway. The service will continue to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Anyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness is encouraged to contact the service on 1800 003 308.
