Eighty attend 2019 Rockleigh neighbour muster

The community event that won the 2019 Murray Bridge Australia Day award for the community initiative of the year, the annual Rockleigh Neighbour Muster, supported by the Rural City of Murray Bridge, this year attracted more than 80 neighbours from across the Rockleigh region.

As a community devastated by fires in the past, the local Country Fire Service and CFS Support Group have banded together alongside CFS regional command, SA Police and the council to raise awareness of the fragile district, promoting and raising awareness of safety, support and community camaraderie.

The CFS motto "neighbours helping neighbours" rings true in this community.

Farmers, hobby farmers and lifestyle families shared sausages; singing, some of it good; learnt about barbecues and homes among the gum trees; had a friendly game of heads and tails; and generally had a fabulous afternoon warming by a huge bush bonfire at the old Rockleigh schoolhouse.

Thanks to the council, the CFS Support Group and the CFS, it was a fabulous afternoon.
