Cheddar cheese produced in Murray Bridge has been recognised as South Australia's, and Australia's, best at two recent award ceremonies.
The Beston Global Food Company notched its 99th and 100th award wins at the SA Dairy Awards on Friday night.
Its Edwards Crossing-branded vintage cheddar, sold in 2.3-kilogram rounds and smaller sizes wrapped in black wax, was named the state's best cheddar.
It also won an innovation award for its Edwards Crossing award winners entertainer's selection, a package of various cheeses with a built-in, recyclable cheese board.
But the company's greatest recent honour came at the International Cheese and Dairy Awards in the United Kingdom, where its cheese was declared the best mild cheddar produced anywhere in Australia.
The international awards have been held annually since 1897, and this year featured 5200 entries from 27 countries judged by 500 experts.
Beston Food Company chief executive Jonathan Hicks welcomed the award wins.
But just as satisfying, he said, was the fact that the company's growing reputation had led its sales to more than triple over the past three months.
"The sales of Beston's Edwards Crossing cheese range have increased by 206 per cent," he said.
"Most of this sales increase has occurred in the domestic retail market, through major Australian retailers.
"BFC continues to make its mark as an emerging leader in the dairy industry."
Beston's cheeses are all manufactured at Murray Bridge and Jervois using milk from company-owned dairies and 38 South Australian contractors.
