Kirsty MacGregor has been sworn in as the Mid Murray district's newest councillor.

Cr MacGregor, a small business owner from Mannum, assumed her seat at a Mid Murray Council meeting at Cambrai on Tuesday after being inducted by Mayor Dave Burgess.

She was also, metaphorically speaking, ushered into a front-row seat to some of the council's day-to-day operations, accepting appointments to the council's audit committee and open space and recreation committee, and as a council representative on the Mannum main street working party and the committee of Mannum Meals on Wheels.

Cr MacGregor was the winner, by two votes, of an election held to fill a vacancy on the council following the death of Cr Steve Wilkinson.
