Members of the South Australian Pensioners Association's Murray Bridge branch have enjoyed their monthly meeting.

President Irene Mitchell opened proceedings at 1.30pm on August 25 with a minute's silence to honour the passing of member Ted Bubner.

Next, she read out a letter she had received from MP Adrian Pederick, congratulating the branch on its recent celebration of 85 years and stating what a wonderful achievement and inspiration to other social establishments it was.

Birthday cakes were then presented to Kevin Rickets and Von Skinner, who had attained 85 years, and Happy Birthday was sung by all.

Raffle prizes were next to be drawn; the lucky winners were Marlene Doe, Joan Rowe and Dee Sturgess.

Next was the drawing of a Fathers Day raffle, won by Ian Hollick, Rhonda Pahl and Ms Rowe.

A note of interest: the SA Pensioners Association's new address is PO Box 253, Kent Town SA 5071.

Following the conclusion of the aforementioned, the 30-plus members were entertained by artists Dean and Annie Smith with a variety of songs, sung by Mr Smith and accompanied on the keyboard by his wife.

A selection of Elvis Presley, rock'n'roll and sing-along ballads were enthusiastically received.

The afternoon concluded with all holding hands and singing Auld Lang Syne and God Save the Queen and, finally, tea and delicacies.
