'A Migrant's Son' community choir ready to shine at Tailem Bend

An everyman story of Greek migration to Australia will be celebrated in song at Tailem Bend on Monday night.

A Migrant's Son is the story of a hard-working man who spent years toiling in a bakery and down Coober Pedy's opal mines before finally opening a chain of supermarkets in his adopted home country.

It is also the story of cabaret star Michaela Burger's father.

Integral to the production will be a live band, including a piano and bouzouki, and a choir comprised of local community members.

A Country Arts SA spokeswoman said the choir had turned out bigger than expected after The Standard echoed a call-out for volunteers.

  • Performance: 7pm Monday at Tailem Bend Town Hall.
  • Tickets: $27/10 at countryarts.org.au or Hughes Newsagency, Tailem Bend.
