If you know someone dedicated to serving others, now is the time to make sure they get the recognition they deserve.
Nominations for the 2020 Australia Day awards are now open in the Murray Bridge, Mid Murray and Coorong districts, and will soon open in Karoonda East Murray.
A citizen of the year, young citizen of the year and event of the year will be named in each district.
A community initiative, sports person, young sports person and volunteer will also be recognised in Murray Bridge; as will a community project in the Coorong and a youth achievement in the Mid Murray.
Murray Bridge Mayor Brenton Lewis said he looked forward to recognising the people who went above and beyond to make their communities proud, safe and progressive.
"We need to acknowledge these special people, and show our thanks, to inspire others to continue building on the work already being carried out," he said.
"I urge you to take the time and submit a nomination for someone you believe is deserving of an accolade.
"This could be a friend, workmate, someone at your sports club or community association, or someone you know doing great work serving the community."
Nominations close on October 25 in the Coorong, November 15 in the Mid Murray and November 30 in Murray Bridge.
