Weapons for the Soldier: 2019 Tarnanthi Festival exhibition to open at Murray Bridge Regional Gallery

Warfare and freedom across generations will be the theme of an exhibition opening at Murray Bridge Regional Gallery at 1pm this Sunday.

Central Australian artists Witjiti George and Taylor Cooper and Tarnanthi Festival artistic director Nici Cumpston will speak at the opening, while Ngarrindjeri elder Major Sumner will conduct a welcome and smoking ceremony and performers will stage an inma, or song and dance, from the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara lands.

The project was initiated by young men from the lands, and includes works by more than 40 Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists.

The exhibition will run until November 3.
