Meningie couple Michael and Wonita Greenwood will take on one of the most daunting challenges in South Australia on Friday - abseiling 132 metres down Adelaide's tallest building - to raise money for Ronald McDonald House.

The charity has supported them since their son Doug was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare cancer, in 2015.

The couple has already raised more than $7000, but hope to get to 10.

Another 98 people will also take the plunge, including Port Adelaide Football Club chief execuive Keith Thomas and Adelaide Football Club women's coach Matthew Clarke.
