The Christmas season will begin in Murray Bridge this weekend with two nights of festivities.
Christ Church Lutheran will host the lighting of the city's Christmas tree at Diamond Park on Friday night.
Between 4.30 and 9pm will be a barbecue tea, family activities and music across the road at the Edwards Square sound shell.
On Saturday, streets will begin closing at midday ahead of the city's parade and riverfront Christmas festival.
The pageant will progress down Bridge Street, Seventh Street and Mary Terrace to Sturt Reserve from 4pm, with all the usual colourful floats, music and, of course, Father Christmas bringing up the rear.
The Christmas festival will then kick into gear between 5 and 10pm.
Rides, games, food trucks, musicians and stalls will be spread out across the reserve throughout the evening, and ATMs will be available.
By 9pm, families will be able to rug up and gaze into the night sky as the evening concludes with a fireworks display - all for free once again thanks to the generosity of the event's sponsors.
