Murray Bridge's riverfront will be the place to be this New Year's Eve, with fireworks to be launched off the city's bridges after a concert by local musicians.

Locals who have long headed elsewhere to celebrate the new year will be encouraged to stick around for the family-friendly party, which will double as an opening event for the 2020 Splash Festival.

The slip-n-dip inflatable playground installed off Sturt Reserve will return on December 31, as will mini golf, a bouncy castle, a bungy trampoline, ballon art and face painting.

For parents, food and drinks will be available, including at a pop-up bar from 4-11pm, while the sounds of Georgy Rose, Jordan Holmes, Will Couzens, Hannah Smith and Barney Rebel waft across the river.

After the fireworks, the party will kick on at Murray Bridge Club from 10pm with a performance by Acoustic Highway.

Mayor Brenton Lewis said the evening would be amazing, and the perfect way to celebrate the end of 2019 and start of 2020.

"We look forward to families making the most of the activities at this event and watching the spectacular, never-before-seen fireworks display," he said.

A midnight fireworks display will also be held at Mannum as usual.
