Warner Close Retirement Living community opens in Murray Bridge

On Friday, November 22, Warner Close Retirement Living, Murray Bridge celebrated its grand opening.

The event was hosted by Ian Henschke, chief advocate for National Seniors Australia and a former South Australian television journalist and radio presenter, and featured speeches from Mayor Brenton Lewis, Member for Hammond Adrian Pederick and Murray Mallee Aged Care Group chief executive officer Anna Howard.

"We treated this project as our baby, like expectant mothers and fathers, and now we stand here today having achieved our goal," she said.

"We hope and seek to provide a home environment that brings much happiness to the lives of those who chose to live here."

Warner Close Retirement Living, at 18 Warner Road, is a 50-unit gated retirement living community with managers, John and Alma Gillard, who live on site.

Rather than paying hefty upfront or exit fees to obtain their new home, residents sign a simple rental agreement.

Rental fees are calculated at a percentage of the current pension rate and include three meals a day and heavy linen washing.

Warner Close Retirement Living will host an open day with a free sausage sizzle and tours of the grounds on Sunday, December 1 between 10am and 3pm.
