Night owls see bowls in new light

It was another week of night owls lawn bowls in Murray Bridge and excitement on Wednesday as after 18 months of hard work and planning, the new lights at the Murray Bridge Bowling Club were turned on for the first time.

On Wednesday night there were several close finishes with only a couple of shots separating the teams.

The only runaway win was by Captain Curt and the Swollen Bowls over Ballpickers.

The overall winning team was The Bowling Stones, featuring players Lisa Monjean, Kay Edson, Aaron Cowling and Amber Monjean.

The winners of the losing teams were Zoobies, featuring Al Grundy, Kay Ireland, Nat Kruger and Barry Jackson.

A position draw takes place and the prizes went to:

  • Lead - Bill Edson (Captain Curt and the Swollen Bowls)
  • Second - Brett Kennewell (Dad's Army)
  • Third - Ollie Altschwager (Jatz Crackers)
  • Skipper - Tim Footner (T & C's)

On Thursday night the leading teams are showing their dominance, so we are looking forward to them playing each other.

Big wins were by Roof Rats over Positive Minds, Mullet Customs over Bridge Motors, Home Detention over River Rats and Green Masters over Bush Wackers.

In the draw for the winning teams, Wot a Racquet's Kathy Pfeiffer, Helen Redden, Rosie Daish and Lorraine Vickers showed they are good allrounders.

The winners of the losing teams were River Rats, a team featuring Roger Sweet, Judy Sweet, Geoff Seyers and Nora Seyers.

All the cards go into the positions draw and the winners here were:

  • Lead - Robyn Hampton-Allen (Bridge Motors)
  • Second - Michelle Bailey (Young Ducks)
  • Third - Dean Innes (Riverglades)
  • Skipper - Adrian Rubino (Awesome Foursome)

With only a couple of weeks until the night owls Christmas break teams will be trying hard to find their form.
