Mannum's main street will be the site of a crackdown on motorists who disobey parking rules, Mid Murray Council has warned.

The council resolved last week to begin enforcing the rules by issuing fines "as resources permit".

Mannum's main street committee and progress association both supported the plan, though the progress association argued that "harsh or regular" enforcement could hurt tourism.

Randell Street businesses will be notified in writing.

The council will also consider requests for a bus parking zone, possibly out the front of Mannum Bowling Club, to save buses the trouble of performing three-point turns in off-street car parks; and for an extra disabled park.
